Joyce Howe

Hi I am Joyce Howe. I was born in Wheatley Hill In February 1948. My parents were Doreen (nee Clarkson) and Alfred Aspinall. I married John Howe in September 1973 and have one daughter Emma born in 1979. I became an official member of the mothers club in 1980 but had attended many times as a guest as my mam, Doreen was a member for many years till her death in 1989. The mothers club is a great place to meet friends, old and new with plenty of different activities. Last year Dorothy our chairperson shanghaied Val Walker and my self into various projects with no idea what we were letting our selves in for. One example Val and myself signed up for a yearlong Cicero Course, which we were told was not like school. This was untrue! We have never done so much writing, research and hard work. The good side was that we attended northern college twice and went to Brussels for a five-day study visit. We ended up enjoying the course and all the work that went with it. Now Dorothy says that she is proud of us. This goes to show that even 'older people' can use their brains to gain confidence and knowledge.
