My name is Eileen Briddick. I was born in Wheatley Hill and have lived here all my life. I am the 3rd child to the late Susannah Barker and Lawrance Barker who is 88yrs old. My grandfather John Barker was one of the founder members of the Mineworkers Union. I have worked as a shop assistant for most of my life.I married my husband Alan in 1970. We have 2 sons Anthony and Graham.Graham is the father of twins and now I am a very proud grandmother. I am a member of Wheatley Hill Mothers Club and have been since 1981. I am a member of the Wheatley Hill Partnership and I am really into the regeneration of our village. I myself care about what happens to our villages since the pit closures. I feel we all need to change and move forward into the 21st century. | |||||
