We know that being a parent is a difficult job and we want to try and help you.

We run courses like:

and organise groups that run weekly at Sure Start Stanley Children's Centre.

Tummy Time - Tuesday 1.30-3.00pm
For parents-to-be and babies up to 12 months old.  An informal session for parents and children to come along to.

Crawlers to Walkers - Monday 10.00-11.30am
Suitable for parents with children aged between 1 and 2 years old.  Activities include singing and snack time.

Home visiting

Family Support offers:

  • Home visiting service

  • Initial visits

  • Ante-natal visits

Part of our role is to meet parents in their own home and let them know what is available for them to take part in.  If you require advice on a specific topic we can arrange a set of visits to help manage the situation.

Our job is to give emotional and practical support to families who need 'a bit extra'.  We can help where there are problems with potty training, feeding, sleeping and temper tantrums and also with illness, disability, family problems and feeling unable to cope.

Making contact

We only work with you because you want us to.  If you think we can help please ask.

You can call in to Stanley Children's Centre (we are just behind Stanley Health Centre), you can phone and make an appointment or if you are in touch with another worker you can ask them to contact us.

Who we are

There are four Child & Family Practitioners based at Stanley Children's Centre; Linda Frazer, Louise Frost, Julie Showler and Vicky Tough.
