Freedom Programme

 Is a 15 week programme for women who have experienced an abusive relationship whether in the past or in the present. It is focused around the POWER and CONTROL of women.

 It looks at the different characteristics of an abusive person, identifying tactics, beliefs of the abusive person and where these beliefs come from.

 The programme allows a comfortable, confidential and supportive environment for women to discuss their experiences and find out what support is available to them.

 Sure Start Chester le Street now work in partnership with Sure Start Stanley, Sure Start West Derwentside, Derwentside Domestic Violence Forum and Durham and Chester le Street’s Domestic Violence Outreach worker to deliver the programme. This means that at any given time there will be a programme running that women from these 4 areas will be able to access.
