A long time ago in the fifties At a dance to celebrate A Queen that was new I met a young miner from Thornley With eyes that were ever so blue. Our courting was done In the back of the Regal Or a walk down Thornley Dene He bought me flowers and chocolates and made me feel like a queen Three years later we married Then our dreams started to come true A boy for him and a girl for me By were we proud of those two Now both of them are married With three lovely grandsons We have been blessed Most of the years have been happy One or two have put us to the test But if I could go back to the beginning And start all over anew I would still choose my young miner from Thornley With the eyes that were ever so blue.
