Wheatley Hill Mother's Club Logo May Burnside

Hello my name is May Burnside (nee Turton) I was born August 1924 daughter of a coal miner. I have lived in Wheatley Hill all my life except for a short while working in Preston.

When I came back to Wheatley hill I went to work in an ammunitions factory in Acliffe making mine detectors during the war.

I left to get married and married a coal miner in March 1945. I had 2 sons. I then went to work at Tudor Foods for 17 years. I had to leave to look after my husband who had emphysema who sadly died in April 1983.

My hobbies are playing bingo and going out for meals. I also enjoy being with my grand children.
I joined the Mothers Club in 1951 and have enjoyed being a member and join in all the activities. I do not like to miss a Wednesday night.
