My name is Jean Wilson I was born at North Or Monsey Middleburgh. I was 3lb born and was not expected to live. A year later war broke out and dad enrolled in the R.A.F and served 5 years as a rear gunner. My mam took over running the shop where my father had been manager. Funniest experience during the war was being pushed under the stairs cupboard with my sister in a air raid and my gran getting stuck in the door way because she was to big to fit in. My mother had gone to the Cinema, which was just across the road and
was frantic because they would not let her out owing to the air raid. Later I adopted a girl and then became pregnant and had another girl. I divorced my husband after 17 years of marriage and struggled to bring up the family as a one-parent family. I have worked in a post office, finance office, credit shop and Roll Royce engineering. I married my late husband Dick Wilson and moved to Thornley. I joined the Mothers Club 7 years ago and really enjoy my Wednesday night. I also run a craft class for children aged 8-12 years old. I also make stage sets for the mothers club. I made the banner and a
Santa Grotto and any props they need for the shows they put on. |
