My name is Irene Turner I was born on December 30th 1951 at Eastlea Road
Seaham. The 1st girl to William and Isabella Dods Firth. I have 2 older
brothers William Avery called after my dad and David.
When I was 2 years old my mother had another baby girl called Anne after
she was born we moved to 47 Culling Avenue Deenside Seaham. As a small
child I was always in to mischief I had rheumatic fever when I was 11
years old and was off school for ages. Once while on the beach before
I started school a donkey went wild and ran away from the pack and trampled
over me. I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
I loved sport at school and was on the netball and athletics team. I
had a very happy childhood memories to many to mention. I left school
at 15years old.
I started work on the Monday at Janet Frazer's and was there 3 years.
I then became a green grocers shop assistant and after 2 years became
manageress.
It was then I met my husband Wilson Turner. We married in 1972 and in
1973 our first child a son Martyn was born. Then I had 2 girls Leanne
then Lindsey. Lindsey and her partner Simon have a little girl our 1st
grandchild Adell`e who we love very much.My marriage broke down 2 years
ago after 27 years of good times and bad.I now live in Wheatley Hill with
my partner Robert.
I am a member of the Mothers Club and enjoy my Wednesday nights.
