Diane MetcalfeMy name is Diane Metcalfe I was born on 29th November 1941 to Jessie Morris at Acomb Maternity Hospital York. When I was 3 weeks old Jim and Elsie Stark brought me to Wheatley Hill where I have lived ever since.At the age of 7 years my adoptive mam died at the age of 45, leaving my dad to look after me with the help of my Aunt Mariah, who I went to live with in York for 4 months. I came back home when my dad had a housekeeper to look after us, who later became my stepmother. We moved from Luke Terrace to Byron Street in 1950 where I first encounter with our chairperson who just happened to live next door. Dorothy has been an inspiration in my life.At the age of 15 years I started going out with Derek Metcalfe we were married 6 years later in March 1963. We have 3 children Neil, Sharon and Joanne. I also have 2 grandchildren Michael and Amber Grace. I joined the Mothers Club in 1980 where I have been a committee member also I was secretary for 10 years. I enjoy my Wednesday night out; we have a good laugh and the company it is like one big happy family. At the moment I am the resident Quiz Lady. The best day of my life was when I married Derek.
