Barbara Saxby

My name is Barbara Saxby [nee Miller] .I was born at 5 Wolmehawson street Wheatley Hill on November 6th 1945 .My mother Beatrice Ellen and step father Thomas Lawler .I have 1 brother Thomas .I was christened at Patton Street Methodist Chapel. I sang all things bright and beautiful on the anniversary 1953 I attended infant's juniors and girls modern school I was head girl at school. I left school in 1960 went to work at Woolworths Peterlee I met my husband to be Sidney Saxby on the D.6. Bus travelling to work, he worked at a garage .We married September 3rd 1966 and lived at 19 Ashmore Terrace toilet out side and tin bath beside the fire .We now live at Johnson Estate .We have a daughter Dawn aged 31 who is married to Peter Kell They have 2 sons Jonathan aged 7 Kieran aged 4 .who we adore .a son Stephen aged 28 .he is studying for a engineering degree, he has a lovely girlfriend Jill Luke .I started to go to All Saints Church in 1955 when all my friends went there. I was in the choir .I still attend church and I am on The Parochial church council. I am secretary of All Saints Over 20:s club which is in it's 41st year I am the youngest and our oldest member is Nancy Ayre [treasurer] aged 84. My hobbies are Knitting, Crochet, Reading, Flower arranging, after numerous times asking me to join and me refusing my friend Eleanor Halliwell said your name as been put forward so you will have to join the mothers club. From that Wednesday in 1991 till now I have never regretted it. Apart from the money side [never having any when you go home] I am more confident I always liked helping people but stayed in the background, now I get involved in allsorts of adventures thanks to our chairperson Dorothy who brings out the best in all of us. My favourite saying is I am proud to be a member of Wheatley Hill Mothers Club. I am also a member of the Scrubbers.Do you remember Going on the train from Thonley Station to Seaton Carew .May Day and receiving a bag of sweets?
