We have put together a selection of our programmes over a year. Girls Night:- A profile of famous women, Princess, Diana, Grace Darling, Catherine Cookson, Marilyn Monroe, Mary Ann Cotton and Mother Theresa Quiz on the History of Wheatley Hill Billy Middleton and Jack Heslop Slide show and old photographs of Wheatley Hill: Who wants to be a millionaire? Music and General knowledge quizzes Various groups and singers also Mrs. Donaldson with a barrel organ Our village doctor's wife and daughter demonstrated Indian dancing and how to wear a sari. Marian Watson demonstrated Belly Dancing and gave a talk Sales and fund raising nights for our club funds Speakers:- Barbara Galloway on her invite and visit to the Queen's garden party at Buckingham Palace. Elaine Ramsey on health and diet Ann Bell from the Muscular Sclerosis Society Mashico a Japanese lady, on the Culture and way of life in Japan Frank Owen slides and talk on visit to USA Sue Antribus slide show and talk on Castle Eden Dene Jean Dixon on the Mencap Society Geoff Pratt on Web site and the Internet P.C. Garrick on Self Defence Tony Metcalfe from the Northern Echo on Journalism and Newspapers John Roughley on India and The Leprosy mission Sally Wilson from East Durham College on Community Education. Special nights :- We have special entertainment for Valentines Night, St Patrick's Night, Easter, Harvest Festival, Halloween Night, Christmas etc., We have a children's Christmas Party and a Children's trip every year. We have invited all organisation and schools in the village to our club for a Carol Service each December, which is a huge success. The Old Scouts Association lead the singing. On our first meeting in the New Year, a group of members put on a show which we call "The Spectacular" we have found some very hidden talents on that night. We have many varied trips for both educational and pleasure. Trips to the theatre, summer nights out and stop off for a meal. A group of us went to Downing Street with a petition to bring the Lindisfarne Gospels home.
