"The Coronation, every street in
the village was to hold a street party to celebrate the event. The week
before a patch of grass was cut outside our house and cordoned off to keep
the dogs away. Everyone baked, and had their tables and chairs ready for
the day. It rained all day so the street party was in Mrs. Simms house,
because she had a piano and we had a sing-a-long and played games it was
still a lovely day" …"We bought a television to watch the Coronation. All
of our relations and friends were invited to see it. Seats were put into
rows, just like the pictures. They were more took up with the television
that they were with the Coronation" |
