SureStart Targets
Parenting support and information available for all parents. A 10 per cent reduction in children re-registered on a child protection register. All local Sure Start programmes to have agreed and implemented, in a culturally sensitive way, ways of identifying, caring for and supporting mothers with post-natal depression. Targets 2 A 5* per cent reduction in proportion of low birth-weight babies A 10* per cent reduction in children admitted to hospital as an emergency during their first year of life with gastro-enteritis, a respiratory infectino, or severe injury * These targets are to be reviewed next year. Targets 3 At least 90 per cent of children with normal speech and language development at 18 months and 3 years 100 per cent of children in Sure Start areas to have access to good-quality play and early learning opportunities, helping progress towards early learning goals when they get to school Targets 4 75 per cent of families report personal evidence of an improvement in the quality of services providing family support All local Sure Start programmes to have parent representation on local programme boards Targets 5 At least 250 local programmes in England 100 per cent of families in contact with the local Sure Start programme within the first two months after birth Evaluation strategy
