My family migrated up here like most families to work in the coal field of Co. Durham.

My mother parents came up from Norfolk, Isabella & Herbert Pollard. Isabella Pollard(nee Grapes) parents are William Grapes (b1844)and Lucretia Grapes ( neeGrapes)
They are descended from two brothers William and Joseph Grapes.
The sons of Robert Grapes , who married Mary Brundish on 1/5/1770
The Grapes came from Potter Heigham and Ludham

Herbert Samuel Pollard's family came from Hickling in Norfolk
His parents were William Samuel Pollard (b1845)and Marianne Gibbs (b1848)
His Grandfather was James Pollard (b1822)

My father's parents were John William Lewis and Elizabeth Lunn, their parents came up from Bilston and Sedgley in Staffordshire working for a while
in Merrington Lane before moving to the Stanley area of Co. Durham

Elizabeth Lunn's parents were Henry Lunn ( b1838) in Lichfield Staffs and Martha Fletcher(b1840)in Bilston Staffs. Her Grandfather's were Joseph Lunn and James Fletcher.

John William Lewis b Merrington Lane in 1875 his father was born in Sedgley Staffs
